A man and his mistress decided to push his disabled wife off the rooftop of a skyscraper to take her entire fortune… But they had no idea how it would all end…
After the accident, Rachel Carter was left disabled.
At one time, she had been strong, confident, and a successful businesswoman. Now she was in a wheelchair, dependent on the help of others, quiet, and almost invisible.
To her husband, Daniel, she was no longer a person.
She was a burden.
A pretty but useless object that stayed in the house and brought him nothing.
Daniel couldn’t simply leave her. In a divorce, he would get practically nothing. Most of the house, the investments, and the fortune belonged to Rachel.
But if his wife were to die “accidentally,” everything would become his.
And so, a plan took shape in that cunning and cruel man’s mind.
He suggested taking Rachel to the rooftop of one of the tallest buildings owned by her company.
Fresh air, a beautiful sunset, an incredible view of the city—everything seemed perfect.
At first, Rachel hesitated, but Daniel was suddenly affectionate, attentive, and even tender.
She agreed.
His mistress, Madison, also came along with them, ostensibly as an old family friend.
That night was far too quiet.
They rode the elevator to the top floor and then passed through the final door leading to the skyscraper’s rooftop.
Far beneath them, the cars looked like tiny dots.
The wind blew hard, and the entire city stretched out beneath their feet.
One wrong step, and everything would be over.
Rachel sat in her wheelchair near the edge of the roof, gazing out at the city.
The wind ruffled her hair, and her eyes were strangely calm.
Daniel stood behind her.
Madison approached from the side.
And in that moment, Rachel understood everything.
“Don’t do this… please…” she said softly, without even turning around. “I know what you’re planning. I’ll do whatever you say.”
They froze for a second.
Then they exchanged a glance.
“Too late,” Daniel answered coldly.
Rachel turned slowly toward them.
There was no panic in her eyes.
Only exhaustion.
“I have no one left…” she whispered. “Please…”
But they had already made their decision.
Daniel suddenly shoved the wheelchair.
For a second, the wheels raced across the concrete roof.
Then the chair rolled over the very edge of the skyscraper.
Rachel vanished from sight.
Madison stood completely still.
Daniel stared into the void for only an instant.
Then he turned slowly toward her.
A smile of relief broke across his face.
He walked straight toward Madison, wrapped his arms around her, and whispered:
“Finally… we’ll be together.”
Madison smiled.
She pulled him closer.
And they kissed passionately on the rooftop, convinced that the only person standing between them and the life they desired was finally gone.
But in the middle of the kiss, Madison suddenly opened her eyes.
She noticed something behind Daniel.
Her entire body stiffened.
She stopped kissing him immediately.
The smile vanished from her face.
Daniel looked confused.
“What?”
Madison didn’t answer.
She kept staring over his shoulder, her face pale.
“Madison?” Daniel asked.
Her lips parted slowly.
And then she whispered:
“Oh, my God…”
Daniel began to turn around.
They were sure their plan had failed.
Yet not even a minute had passed… when something completely unexpected happened.
The continuation of the story can be found in the first comment.
PART 2
Madison couldn’t stop staring over Daniel’s shoulder.
Her face had turned completely white.
“Daniel…” she whispered.
He frowned.
“What?”
She raised a trembling hand and pointed toward the small structure near the rooftop access door.
Daniel turned around.
And that was when he saw it.
A security camera.
A small red light was blinking beneath the lens.
Recording.
For several seconds, Daniel didn’t move.
Then he looked back toward the edge of the building.
“No,” he whispered.
Madison grabbed his arm.
“You said there were no cameras up here.”
“There weren’t.”
“What do you mean there weren’t?”
“I checked!”
Daniel ran toward the camera, but before he could reach it, the access door to the roof swung open abruptly.
Two building security officers stepped outside.
“Stay right where you are.”
Daniel froze.
Madison stumbled backward.
“What is this?” Daniel demanded. “My wife just fell! Call an ambulance!”
The older security guard looked at him strangely.
“We already did.”
Daniel’s expression shifted.
“Already?”
The officer raised his radio.
Then came the words Daniel never expected to hear.
“She’s alive.”
Madison covered her mouth.
Daniel stared at him.
“That’s impossible.”
The officer’s gaze hardened.
“Really?”
Only then did Daniel realize that something had gone terribly wrong with the plan.
What he didn’t know was that Rachel had begun suspecting him nearly three months earlier.
It all started with little things.
One evening, Daniel forgot to close his laptop.
Rachel had seen messages between him and Madison.
She hadn’t confronted him.
Instead, she watched.
She noticed Daniel asking unusual questions about her will.
She noticed him requesting information on the company’s insurance policies.
And two weeks before the trip to the roof, she overheard him whispering on the phone:
“Once she’s gone, none of this will matter.”
Rachel had spent years building companies.
She knew one rule better than almost anyone:
When someone believes you’re weak, sometimes the safest thing you can do is let them keep believing it.
So, Rachel said nothing.
The building Daniel chose for their “romantic sunset” belonged to Rachel’s company.
And Daniel didn’t know that exterior renovation work had recently begun.
Several floors below the rooftop hung a suspended maintenance platform used by window-washing crews.
That morning, Rachel discreetly contacted the building manager.
She didn’t tell him Daniel intended to harm her, because she wasn’t entirely certain yet.
She merely said:
“If my husband takes me to the roof tonight, I need security watching over me.”
They did.
They activated the cameras Daniel assumed were disconnected.
And when Rachel’s wheelchair went over the ledge, it didn’t fall all the way down to the street.
